France in Ruins by Simon O’Corra, and published by Golden House Publications, presents a spellbinding collection of evocative black-and-white pictures of ruined buildings in France. These ruins include churches, town houses, industrial buildings, former civic structures and castles. The magic of ruins is unmistakable. They have the power to appall and transfix us. No two ruins are the same and this book shows but a small sample of those that exist in France. Ruins exist to captivate us and this book reveals their history, the causes for their development and the relationship between humans and ruins. This book is illustrated with more than 200 photographic pictures of ruined buildings.

France in Ruins

Review:

"I felt compelled to write a review after spending the entire weekend engrossed in Simon Mark O'Corra's latest book France in Ruins-Buildings in Decay.

I think this book is marvelous on many levels so much time and effort has been taken to take us on a great journey of discovery, a voyage of delights!!! If like myself you love France but also if you are passionate about the beauty in something that has fallen and crumbled, ruins that reveal a hidden depth of understanding from the author.....a super array of buildings, architectural features and locations stimulate with every turn of the page. In fact so many of my friends have decided to visit France after spending some time with this eloquently considered and well written book.

Mr. O'Corra's passion for life is evident his ability as an artist is unquestionable but for me it is his desire to show us something different to scratch away the veneer of superficiality that can sometimes blind and take us with him to explore wonders that are often not set before us in such an raw yet dazzling perspective and for that I say a simple thank you and please if you want a chance to look wild beauty in all it's raw glory this is a must - have book."
